cupcake plate experiment

I had made several cupcake plates using small dessert plates and short candlesticks, but I wanted to make a couple of them a little more interesting. So I had the idea of an easy way I could paint them. Using a glue stick I lightly glued down the back of small doilies and placed them on the center of the plates. Then all I had to do was spray on a couple coats of paint, peel off the doilies, and spray on a waterproof sealer!

I love this effect!







Also, if you try this at home always leave the wrapper on the cupcake. The paint is not food safe so the cupcake does not need to come in direct contact with the plate.

Now I need to go make some cupcakes for my hubster's birthday tomorrow!
