Shutter Headboard

As I mentioned in my first post about our new home, I was given a full size bed and a black shutter headboard that my grandfather made. They work perfectly as a guest bed, but I wanted to fix the headboard up a little and make it my own.

It was an easy transformation! I painted the shutters Gray Horse by Benjamin Moore, which is one of my fav gray paint colors.  Then I removed the floor stand on the bottom and mounted it higher on the wall by drilling wood screws through the shutters and straight into the wall.

Now all I need is some nightstands and wall decor and the guest bedroom will be complete.

Café Shutters

 One of my favorite things is cafe shutters! So when my grandparents gave me some old shutters I immediately had the idea to take down the mini blinds and put up the adorable shutters on my kitchen window. 

My window was a little too wide to use two sets, so I added a third shutter to one side.  I was a little worried it would look weird, but I think it turned out great and it fits perfectly!

This is the before pic of the shutters.  They weren't in bad shape, just a little dirty and in need of a fresh coat of paint.
